SCJTL After School Tennis Lessons

SCJTL After School Tennis Lessons are a great way for children and youth of all ages to learn and develop their tennis skills in a fun and friendly setting. Children in Grades K through 4 will learn tennis through fun activities based on the 10 & Under format, while older children and teens will learn more progressive tennis skills based upon their age and experience. After School Tennis Lessons are conveniently located and scheduled for all Suffolk County School District students and residents to learn and improve their tennis skills while having fun.

Registration is CLOSED!

2020 After-School lesson program will NOT run due to unavailbility of school facilities mandated by NY State due to COVID-19.

This program will return in 2021.

Comsewogue School District

Dates:June 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18

Session Times*
K- Ages 4 to 6:   4:00 to 4:30pm
Grades 1 to 4:    4:30 to 5:30pm
Grades 5 to 8:    5:30 to 6:30pm   
Grades 9 to 12:  6:30 to 7:30 pm

*Schedule may be adjusted in order to maximize enrollment. Notification will be given before program starts.

Lesson Rates

School District Residents*
K ½ hr.. group = $60 pp
Junior| Adult 1 hr.. group = $85 pp

Non-Residents
K ½ hr. group = $70 pp
Junior-Adult 1 hr.. group = $95 pp

Prices are per player for the full 3 weeks.

Tennis instruction for grades K thru 12

  • Grades k thru 4:
    Kids learn tennis fast using 10 and Under Tennis format and progressions.
    • Racquet and Rally skills.
    • 10 and Under Tennis balls and court sizes.
    • Game based fun activities.
  • Grades 5 thru 8:
    • Tennis learning progressions to develop racquet and rally skills.
    • Orange and Green tennis balls on full size courts.
    • Movement and stroke basics.
    • Game based fun activities.
    • Singles and doubles basics and match play.
  • Grades 9 thru 12:
    • Tennis learning progressions to develop racquet and rally skills.
    • Green and yellow tennis balls on full size courts.
    • Movement and stroke basics.
    • Game based fun activities.
    • Singles and doubles basics and match play.
  • Adult instruction:
    • Tennis learning progressions to develop racquet and rally skills.
    • Adults QuickStart tennis balls used on 1/2 to full size courts.
    • Singles and doubles basics..
    • Meet other adults from the community.

  • Program designed by USTA National 10+Under Tennis Specialist, High Performance Coach and Specialist in Competitive Player Development
  • Instruction by experienced staff supervised by Certified tennis professional.

SCJTL supplies the tennis balls. Players should bring their own tennis racquets, water, wear tennis shoes or sneakers.

Need a tennis racquet? Parent may also purchase junior and adult tennis racquets online and receive it on the first day of the program.

Suffolk County Tennis & Education Foundation NET Generation Community Tennis Provider

Community tennis lesson programs for school district residents and non-residents. Coordinated with USTA Net Generation Schools Program to support tennis units in school district Physical Education classes. Donation from registration fees made to varsity tennis team Booster Club or fund raising program.

Rain Cancellation and Make-ups:

Rain cancellations will be made up by adding extra sessions.
